Alberta Pro-Life is here on behalf of the weak and vulnerable. Where our culture promotes death, darkness and despair, we promote life, light and hope. We believe Life Matters, from beginning to end.

We are a light that shines through 18 local pro-life groups across the province. Our members are committed to advancing a culture of life, from the womb to the tomb. We believe life begins at conception and should be justly protected and morally upheld as such. We believe that life is precious - even when things get tough near the end and families are forced to confront the ugly face of euthanasia. We encourage people dealing with life matters, in hospitals and care units, courtrooms and legislative assemblies, bedsides and pregnancy care centres, classrooms and coffee shops, and especially in the pulpit and on the home front.

Each local group promotes life in ways that suit them. Some are educational. Others take on an advocacy role. Some fundraise for billboards. Others erect memorials to the unborn. To find out what's happening in your area, check out the Calendar of Events on our Blog at the top of this page.

In addition, as a provincial umbrella group, we typically host a provincial conference with top-notch speakers and workshops. We also maintain a pro-life presence through educational booths. Our office also acts as a resource centre for local groups. For the cost of your membership, you will receive a subscription to The Rose , a first-rate newsletter published by Alberta Pro-Life and Manitoba's League for Life.

Our supporters tell us they oppose supporting the abortion industry with tax dollars. Taxpayers pay for the lion's share of abortions in Alberta. For instance, the abortion clinic in Edmonton, which services Northern Alberta, pocketed $2,179,900 in 2007/08, according to the region's Health Report. Across the province, taxpayers shelled out between $6 million and $8 million for 12,000 abortions. By comparison, Albertans paid about $4 million for just over 9,000 abortions in 1993. This means Abortion is on the rise. Our supporters are committed to changing the status quo to reflect more a more just, humane future - a future where we do not abort almost one-third of our offspring each year.
